In order to support the training given, we can offer sessional work supporting
placements,
staff learning,
teachers,
parents and
carers.
We recognise that some cases are complex and benefit from additional, individualised input.
We know that children with ADHD and ASC often experience multiple changes in residential or foster placement which can impact on the carer, agency, and family but more importantly the welfare and potential of the child. Supporting a placement can offer success for the child and care giver.
In education these children and young people experience a lot more detentions, exclusions and changes of school; this can make them very hard to reach, for even the most dedicated teacher. Wraparound can support the child and staff, or staff individually, to facilitate positive change.
Studies note that even in the most loving homes; ADHD kids receive more negative attention than neuro-typical children. Our experience is that parents often become polarized in their approach to the child. As one parent becomes more punitive the other compensates and becomes softer. This results in each parent taking their approach further. Other children in the family can feel ignored and escalate the tension in the home too. As a result the ADHD child often feels safer thriving on negative attention. By offering family support we can help provide a new way of working together.
